Oproep voor wedstrijd: 2nd European Lithography Days 2012 - Münich

From August 28th, 2012, to September 3rd, 2012, the 2nd European Lithography Days 2012 will take place in Munich.
In this context, the Münchner Künstlerhaus will offer an exhibition and a prize for lithography on the topic of "Maps and Flags".

From August 28th, 2012, to September 3rd, 2012, the 2nd European Lithography Days 2012 will take place in Munich.
In this context, the Münchner Künstlerhaus will offer an exhibition and a prize for lithography on the topic of "Maps and Flags".

In cooperation with the Bayerisches Landesamt für Vermessung und Geoinformation (Bavarian Land Survey Office) the works will be shown in the gallery of the Land Survey Office. The prize winners will be announced at the opening of the exhibition on August
31st, 2012. The exhibition will end on September 16th, 2012.

First prize: € 2000.-, donated by the Münchner Künstlerhaus Foundation
Second and third prize: 2 months work grant at the Münchner Künstlerhaus in 2013, with free lodging and independent use of workshop facilities

Flags, banners, maps, plans, as well as the symbols used on them are common in art and are often used in the field of printmaking.
Which meaning do these arrangements of colors, planes and symbols have between the poles of a globalized world without borders on the one side, and the longing for a homeland and a feeling of belonging on the other side? We expect interpretations of the topic in lithography technique. Combinations with other printing techniques are allowed, according to the motto „beyond the borders“.
There is no limit of age or nationality.

Up to 3 artistic lithographs, single or multi-colored, on the topic of „Maps and Flags“ can be submitted. A short description should explain the theme of each work and the specific technique that was used.

Stage I:
Submission in digital form in one of the following ways:
- by e-mail, in JPG format, with a resolution of 72 dpi, longest side 20 cm maximum
- on CD or DVD, in TIF format with a resolution of 300 dpi, longest side 20 cm maximum
Each file should allow clear identification in the file name. The following data must be recognizable in the file name: last name, first name, title, year of creation and dimensions (height x width in cm) Example: Kristen_Tom_mindmap_2011_60_50
The files must be PC-compatible.

The short description and a brief CV are to be sent as a PDF file.
The selection in stage I will be made by the organizing committee of the event.
The works submitted in stage I will not be returned.
Maximum size of the works: 119 cm (longest side)

Please only send in the documents listed above. Any additional material such as catalogues, brochures etc. cannot be used by the jury and cannot be returned.

Stage II:
Artists who have qualified for stage II have to personally submit the accepted works by July 31st, or send them by mail to the following address by July 31st (postmark):

The works will be sent back in their original packaging after the exhibition.

Forms can be downloaded from homepage www.lithotage.de as from July 1st, 2012

All works will be put in neutral frames by the organizer. For this purpose, all entries must be mounted on neutral white museum cardboard (1.5 to 2 mm thick). Frames are available in the following formats (= cardboard size): 30/40 cm, 40/50 cm, 50/65 cm, 65/85 cm, 70/100 cm, 84/119 cm. Additional passe-partouts are allowed, but not mandatory. Formats that do not fit and larger formats will be mounted directly on the wall without frames.

After the end of the exhibition, all works will be returned to the artists by mail, or can be collected directly at the Münchner Künstlerhaus on prior agreement.

The Münchner Künstlerhaus-Stiftung shall have the right to reproduce works accepted for the exhibition for publication in the press and on the Internet free of charge.

Submission fee
All applications for stage I are free of charge.
For all applications accepted for stage II, a processing fee of 50 EUR will be charged.
