Fabrice Lemarois

Fabrice Lemarois is a belgian painter born in Namur in 1969. His work, typically characterized by evanescent figures and rarefied colors applied on brut linen canvas, takes its inspiration from the reflexions of Levinas on the experience of the encounter with the Other, as well as metaphysical eastern philosophies such as that of Nagarjuna. Shaped by his prolonged stays in remote places of Siberia and Belarus, where Lemarois lives and paints in complete isolation during winter, his practice introduces a contemplative dimension in figurative painting that is reminiscent of more abstract contemporary forms.
