MUSIC IS THE KEY- Sandrine Astier
KOKOB, rue des Grands Carmes, 10-1000 Bruxelles.
FR - Le cœur de Sandrine Astier bat aux rythmes africains. La Musique pourrait être la clé ou le moteur de sa peinture, même d'avant l'an 2000, quand elle est diplômée de l'Université Marc Bloch à Strasbourg (FR). Aujourd'hui, elle présente un nombre de peintures de héros masculins de la musique jazz, soul, funk africaine et afro-américaine et ce particulièrement pour les montrer au KOKOB, là où elle peut les confronter aux arômes de ce restaurant unique. Le musicien Éthiopien Mulatu Astatke est l'ambassadeur de cette expo; il fait le lien entre l'univers pictural de Sandrine Astier et celui du KOKOB.
D'autres portraits seront également présentés lors de cette exposition dont un hommage à Marc Moulin, le musicien et écrivain belge influent (1942 - 2008). Sandrine Astier est dingue de la musique qu'il a produit, avec le groupe PLACEBO, dans les années’70.
Ceux qui ne sont pas susceptibles de reconnaître ces musiciens au travers de ces toiles seront frappés par ces hommes aux poses nonchalantes et aux yeux rêveurs. Le rythme et les couleurs de l'Afrique pourront par contre êtres ressentis par tous.
Music is the Key est une exposition savoureuse qui crée une atmosphère de luxe et de goûter aux plaisirs de la gastronomie éthiopienne.
De retour à la maison, nous n’avons qu'une envie, c'est de déterrer quelques albums vinyles laissés dans l'oubli.
NL - Afroritmes zitten in het bloed van Sandrine Astier. Reeds voor ze in het jaar 2000 afstudeerde aan de Marc Bloch Universiteit in Straatsburg (FR) vormt muziek de sleutel of motor tot haar picturale wereld. Voor Kokob werkte ze een reeks van portretten van helden uit de Afrikaanse en Amerikaanse muziek af, nieuwsgierig naar de ontmoeting tussen haar schilderijen en de aroma’s van KOKOB. De Ethiopische muzikant Mulatu Astatke vormt het affichebeeld van dit project, als een ambassadeur voor Sandrine’s schilderkunst, Ethopie én dit originele restaurant.
Tussen de verschillende portretten valt het eerbetoon aan Marc Moulin(1942 - 2008) op. Sandrine Astier staat vol bewondering voor zijn geniale muziek uit de jaren’70 met de groep Placebo. Wie de heren niet herkent, ziet mannen in nonchalante poses met een dromerige blikken, maar voelt zonder twijfel het ritme en de Afrikaanse warmte.
Music is the Key is een expo die je uitnodigt om gezellig te tafelen en daarna thuis je vinylcollectie opnieuw af te stoffen.
ENG - Sandrine Astier’s heart beats to afro-rhythms. Music could be discovered as the key or motor of her painting, even from before the year 2000, when she graduated from Marc Bloch University in Strasbourg (FR). She has finished a number of paintings of male heroes of the African and American music tradition, especially to show them at KOKOB, where she can confront them with the aroma’s of this unique restaurant. Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke is the ambassador of this expo and brings the worlds of Sandrine Astier and KOKOB together.
Among the portraits there is a tribute to Marc Moulin (1942 - 2008), the influential Belgian musician and writer. Sandrine Astier is mad about the music he produced in the ‘70’s with the band Placebo. These men with dreamy eyes will strike those who aren’t able to recognize the gentlemen in the paintings, but everybody will certainly feel the African rhythm and heat.
Music is the Key is a tasty exhibition that creates an atmosphere of luxury wining and dining, and it will inspire you to dust off some long forgotten vinyl albums.
